Bob visits Capitol Hill

Bob Hamers participated in two congressional briefings on October 25. These were organized by the Science Coalition, a non-profit organization of more than 50 major research universities. The briefings were targeted toward understanding how federal R&D support for science supports American competitiveness, using the experiences of cross-section of 8 faculty entrepreneurs who were chosen from across the spectrum of scientific disciplines. Bob was selected as a representative of UW-Madison and his associated company, Silatronix. The briefing in the House, was sponsored by US Rep. Bill Foster, chair of the House R&D Caucus; a similar event in the Senate was sponsored by Senator Jerry Moran and Senator Chris Coons, co-chairs of the Senate Competitiveness Caucus. The briefings, primarily presented to congressional and federal agency staffers, attracted more than 100 participants.

Bob explains to Rep. Bill Foster how Silatronix arose from NSF funding of UW-Madison science.
